Flight Fun with Aero Jex (Sky Soldier) RC plane.
Having fun with my cheapo Aero Jex 2-channel electric RC plane (the same as the Sky Soldier). Bought it for 25 quid in the UK, yeah homies. It's really hard to fly in the slightest of winds (causing all these crashes), but quite solid fun for its money! And speaking of solid, the little bugger is virtually indestructible as you can see from the video, surviving even head-on collisions with concrete columns xD Enjoy…
Many thanks go to my friends who did the shooting while I did the flying
Some trivia: the transmitter is 40 MHz, which as every decent RC flier knows totally sucks for flying models in terms of range per power (it's even reserved to ground rc vehicles but heh, that's how they sold it in the UK where I bought it). The batteries are a pack of three 2/3 AAA 300 mAh Ni-Mhs. You may get up to 7 minutes of intermittent flying with a full charge, but not 7 minutes straight before overheating occurs, that's one of the reasons most flights are under 1 minute long, and I don't think it could go over 2-3 even under ideal circumstances, without a pause.
I'm using rechargeable batteries for the Tx, and it just seems to work as good as it can.

buh now ive got an boeing 787 its realy good lol. i fink im goin to buy anotha 1 of these plane tho cos i reli liked it lol
i used to have one of these buh i broke it by flying it into a river lol dnt meen to tho
Well…how long it …
Well…how long it will stay up in the air depends a lot on battery conditions, external temperature, motor heat/wear etc. The ideal would be a fresh LiPo battery and new motors on a cold day with no wind and nice, dense air to provide lift. If you're lucky enough to have bought a DeLuxe version with a LiPo instead of a nasty NiMH, then good for you
GET ONE NOW, I can …
GET ONE NOW, I can keep mine in the air for 2mins ( 2.5 if I'm lucky!). they're dead durable: last week I flew mine into a tree about 10m high; it was up there for three days! I would go out every day to see if it had moved. On the fourth day I couldn't see it in the tree. I looked around the tree and eventually found it in a hedge. I brought it home charged it up and it still works fine!
i got one for my …
i got one for my bday! it only stays in the air for a max of 1 min though.
It's not a jet, and …
It's not a jet, and it's marketed as "Aero Jex", live with it.

i got one for my birthday and i didnt know how to charge it but now i do and when i put the batterys in the plane felt a bit haevyer does this interfere with the flying performance in any way?

Well…you can try …
Well…you can try to assemble three AAA 2/3 NiMH Cells together and make a battery pack like I sis, or you can buy one online (remember, NiMH 3.6 V 2/3 AAA!). A single Li-Po battery 3.7V may also work, provided you have the means to recharge it correctly, and 4.8V NiMH battery packs work too (some Aero Jex come with those).
so i got one of …
so i got one of those and it flies really good in no wind. any idea where i can get more batteries for it?
Well let's be …
Well let's be honest…of course it doesn't fly as well as a cheap hobby-grade plane, there are days where it's impossible to get it in the air at all, and the quality of its components leaves something to be desired (especially the battery/motors). It's a good introduction to model plane flying though, and cheap enough to have no regrets trying it out.
so overall would …
so overall would you say this plane flies well? i think im getting one, just would like a heads up on how it handles. i would try radioshack's starscream jet rc, its the same idea as this and works really well.
The wheels were …
Not that you get a chance to land it regularly very often…and even with all 4 or just with 2 front wheels it's hard to take off by rolling, unless wheels are perfectly aligned and you have some 20 meters of runway to spare.
The wheels were taken off, but only because they broken or fell off during flight
year i onlt go out …
year i onlt go out with it when theres no wind and is it better if u take weels of
Well, it sure does …
Well, it sure does fly somehow, but I was quite lucky on that day: if the wind is just above the limit or in any way irregular in direction, I just can't make it take off or keep it flying: it plummets almost as a lead weight if anything interferes with its airspeed. I was surprised that it flew as it did in the video, to be honest.
i just got a aroe …
i just got a aroe jex they fly quite gd comment bk
I would like to …
I would like to make a collection of all those cheap RC planes :-p The Aero Jex is pretty minimal (no control surfaces (steers by differential motor thrust), 40 MHz band…) but there are other similar 2-channel planes with better performance. Maybe I'll try a battery mod or something :-p
yeah, it bought it …
yeah, it bought it with that controller. Thats why it paye for it. Either way im thinking of getting the P40 Warhawk. It look mean as hell.
Hmm I have FMS, but …
Hmm I have FMS, but afaik it's freeware, so normally you shouldn't have to pay for it unless it comes with one of those simulation controllers e.g. those sold by Esky. Being a cheap yobbo, I am using a dual shock-type joypad (the two analog sticks feel a lot like a good quality remote's sticks)
True! I've trained …
True! I've trained with rc simulator for a while and it pays of alot. You can buy FMS for almost no cash at all. It ruff graphic but the idea with 4 chanel is the same you know. That's why I wanna go bigger now =)
I think they are …
I think they are selling these pretty much anywhere by now, they are classified as "toys" and perform as such. Nevertheless, they are good fun for the novice, before moving to something bigger.
I want to go bigger …
I want to go bigger too, but for now I'm stuck with this one…well at least as long as I can recover it from thorny bushes and other unfriendly places where it might end up
That kind of plane …
That kind of plane is cool. I flew it last summer. This summer I wanna go bigger =) Like many newbis im gonna get one old warbird.
