Ohio Combat RC Wing Build Slideshow/Video
Here's a slide show on the Build of my Ohio Combat Sledgehammer RC Wing. It was a fun build. Decided to "Glass" it for strengh and cover it with ultracoat. Here's a slide show from start to finish.

The core is Hot …
The core is Hot Wired out from EPP foam. Jeremy at OhioCommbat makes the bare cores. I believe the Coroplast is 4mm, The compartments were cut/made using a Rotozip with a small dremel router bit installed. Just set the hight and trim away. The "Glass" is fiberglass screen door material and a combination of polyurethane glue and light weight spackle. Makes a Very strong wing. E-mail me if you would like more details on the covering. Thanks.
Very nice rig!
What …
Very nice rig!
What weight glass did you use? Vacuum bag?
I take it the coroplast is the smaller size (4mm?)
Did you use a hotwire cutter- at 1:20 i see the foam removed from the batt compartment in one piece. And also very precise hatch cover recesses!
u know something …
u know something man u inspired me to biuld a small plane out of styrofoam and stuff motor batteries ty

Pretty cool! I haven't tried the Sledgehammer on 6C yet. Even on 4S it's FAST.

Send me a private message through Youtube with your e-mail address. I'll send you a picture of the wing with the batt door open so you can see how its set up.
No, most that I …
No, most that I have seen have molded in pockets that the electronics go into, velcro ect holds them in. Not many wings have everything as embeded into the wing as this one, I've seen others like this though. Compare this wing with a Zagi, the Sledgehammer is super smooth like glass, very little to cause drag. My next one I will take more time and add fairings to the control horns to make them more aerodynamic as well.
Very nice ,,, all …
Very nice ,,, all the wings have that same system to retreive the esc and batt?
The servo's are …
The servo's are sealed into the plane and would take a bit of surgery to remove them. The ESC, receiver and bats all have doors. The compartments are cut into the foam and topped/bottemed with Coroplast. The coroplast is the lid and is hinged on one end, seals tight with velcro. Just lift up the door and slide the Batteries inside. Once inside just close the door and everything is nice and flush.
Very nice..one …
Very nice..one question . All the wings I've seen so far on youtube never show how they remove the battery for replacement. Is there a way to remove the electronics or do you guys just cover over all the electronics? Thanks
can u make me 1
can u make me 1
All electronics are …
All electronics are buried into the plane. I'm using a Specktrum radio and reciever. This plane is a little more complicated/expensive to build than other wings that just use tape, like the zagy ect. There is a lot of time involed in building this. You can see the components that I used listed at the start of the vid.
where is the …
where is the reseaver i made one of those for a bout 90p and all i bought was tape

thanks but I'm just going to keep it for now.
