What I actually meant is what you said.
It slows down rapidly and then drops like a rock so you wanna be carefully watching your airspeed…

Any airplane will stall if the speed gets too slow. The Gee Bee it slows down very rapidly when the power is reduced. I found that you don't pull the power back and expect to "glide" down. You "reduce" power gradually and watch airspeed as it slows and descends. It's like my Christen Eagle in the landing technique but more dramatic in the need to keep power on all the way down and only chop the throttle back when you have the runway threshold made and are only a few inches off the ground.

Yes, that is actually an R2 but I call it my R1 because I have two and this is the first to get finished. Besides very few people know the difference. Good Catch!

Isn't that a Gee Bee R-2? They are very similar but they have different nose cones. The R-1 isn't tapered like the R-1. Regardless, nice plane and great flying.
