AceFlyer's Skyraider versus 20 knot wind

A World Model Skyraider ARF with TT46Pro and a belly-full of Coopers' fuel takes to the air in 20-knot winds. No problem for "AceFlier". This is very impressive.

UPDATE: Alas, this plane "is no more", having been totally destroyed in a mid-air collision with the AT40 Flying Trainer that appears in another of my videos. The AT40 was flying knife-edge at 10 feet down the runway at full throttle and *bam* — the SkyRaider was turned into confetti. The AT40 landed with bits of the SkyRaider still poking through its wing.

The AT40 will live to fly again, the SkyRaider is history (RIP).

Ace Flier is buying another one this week!

Well the TT46Pro …
Well the TT46Pro puts out its maximum (1.43HP) at 16,000 RPMs and has a practical RPM range of up to 17,000 RPMs (according to the manufacturer — who should know). With a 12×4 prop it tachs at 14,400 RPMs on the ground which means it unwinds to about 16,000 (ie: max power) in the air. What's wrong with that?

I don't think a …
I don't think a 12×4 prop is too small — most .46-sized engines only turn a 10-11 inch prop. And I've got an engine running on 12% oil that's now done almost 400 hours. It's only 300RPMs down on a brand new one. No complaints about using lower volumes of a higher-quality oil from me.

I've put a gallon of fuel through it over 2 weekends without mishap. Mine can actually hover with a 3 bladed prop. One of the best flying airplanes end of story.

Standard TT46Pro, …
Standard TT46Pro, 12×4 APC prop, GMS/Tower muffler, Skyraider ARF and home-brew fuel using Coopers Plus-C oil at 12% with just 5% nitro. Incredible stuff that Coopers Oil!
