1930's Laird Turner Racer

A 20-year-old 1/3 scale model of a Laird Turner Reno Racer. The engine is two Haskarvana Chainsaw Engines combined with a machined aluminium home made crankcase. Only 50 engines were manufactured in this manner by Ron Chapman, who also manufactures this unique R/C plane.

I had a chance to look at Jack Devine Models web site, his model is 12 pounds lighter than the one above manufacture by Ron Chapman. It also had a lower wing loading, so it will be a lot easer to land. The Zenoah 62 will be fine.

The kit I am …
The kit I am looking at right now is a built up foam Version of this plane.
Google Jack Devine Models and you will find the site and the plane. My guess is your plane is not a foamcore. Thanks

The plane is very …
The plane is very heavy, I think the 62 will fly it but it will be sluggish…. You will need a long take off run, and no room for errors when flying. The Turner is a racer so it's wing loading is high and it likes to go fast. The two Haskarvana Chainsaw Engines on this plane came it at 76cc. I think an 85 to 100cc engine would be a lot better and you would have power to get out of unwanted situations.

Thanks for posting this I am thinking of building the same plane.

Do you think a Zenoah 62 would fly it ok or does it need more?
