Weston's new … Weston's new vampire out shortly. This has enclosed tuned pipe so should help aerodynamics. Looks pretty cool.
I've been running the same engine that going to be in it, a new weston 36v1 on a 8×6 at 21k rpm (tuned pipe)in a discontinued small pylon racer by Flair called a Dara. With this set up I would say its as quick as the magnum and only a 36! Amazing.
Weston Tigershark to be discontinued. The big tiger is A LOT of fun, easy to see,not as quick but great on a 10×6.

Have tried 8×8 but dont't like the idea of cutting manifold pipe if I want to swap back to the 9×7 which I find easy to self launch and good all round speed. I try to fly BIG leter U's reversal and drop it from very high. Usually a big grin on my face.
Good to fly in formatation like this.
It doesn't like tight turns and I fly flat out to empty tank and dead stick land everytime.

Have you tried the apc 8*9 for speed ? launch is a real pig… but once it goes it really does
You got no spinner … You got no spinner which must be a huge front end on drag.
Last month 5 cops turned up to watch me fly and it was so quick and small their speed gun could not clock it.
How have you clocked your speed,Doppler program? measured distance, average?
Maybe you should take it MUCH higher and pull up at last for short super horizontal pass then up again to use the gained vertical dived speed gained
The worlds fastest model was recentley clocked at 357mph I think, dynamic soaring(RCME, this month)

This is my second MagnumR. The first crashed at full bore after tx battery came out! However it had done over 100 flights.
My current model has now 130 flights on the airframe with extra laminating underneath.
I find the 9×7 best for easy self vertical launching. 10×6 is like a rocket.
Weston uk have fantastic service. The box it comes in indicates speeds of 200mph. You need to talk to them if you don't believe them.

all i'm saying is that the model isn't fast as your making out… the fastest speed ever achieved with a magnum was 170 after a dive, and that was running a hand crafted nelson pylon racing engine… Just my two chips

ive been flying r/c … ive been flying r/c planes since iwas 7 im 15 now and wen i flew a magnum i piled it in badly cos the reciver failed and the plane caried on going on the ground for arond 200 meters!!!!!!!!!!!! i fly a super air with a size 70 4 stroke and retactable gear. just trying to pesuade my dad to let me put a turbine on it lol
