OK, one more comment: It is a four stroke 4-cylinder, so it fires every half crankshaft revolution. A single four stroke will fire every second crank revolution. The OS 40LA is a two-stroke single and fires every crank rev….. sorry for the mixup! But this makes a lot difference in sound.

Yes, this is a cold start up. Since this is a 4 cylinder engine, it does 4 times the ignitions as a single-cylinder will do at same rpm. Do not judge idle rpm by sound, take a tachometer. It idles at less then 2000rpm.
