It's only a matter of time before one of these things does a Ramstein 1988 crash into a crowd of spectators. I dont care how skilled you are, a radio / servo failure is gonna plant one of these into a bystander (and kill them). An apartment in a high rise got burnt to a crisp cuz of one of these things already. At least here they are doing it in the desert.

Thanks Phildo1970, unfortunately the lens I was using was new and my silly camcorder couldn't focus properly. The whole thing is blurry. You can bet I won't have that problem at next year's Jet Rally! I definitely plan on going again. My friend is building his first jet and will be flying it, so I'll have the HD tape rolling, just in case!

Usually that is the case, AsHrAfOiMaN, but in this particular instance, there was nothing left of that plane. The fireball took care of that. They found the engine eventually, hundreds of feet from the crash site. Nothing but crumpled metal. Even the servos went in the trash they were so mangled and melted. A few kids took small debris as memorabelia from the jet they saw crash, that's it.

I fly electric RC prop planes, and even in a total, your electronics usually survive.

Yeah, that's what I thought. The guy didn't seemed upset at all. Kind of grinning. I'd have been in shock. When I asked him what his wife was going to say, he said "She'll just ask me which jet I'm building next" I realized why it didn't bother him when I saw his motor home, which was worth more than my house, and he towed a trailer loaded with more jets, including an identical one that he munched the next day. RC is like gambling - you know you're going to lose your money, and accept it.
