E-Flite RC P-47 Thunderbolt Maiden Flight

This is my first time flying a warbird and 21 days after I first learned to fly an RC plane. The P-47 Thunderbolt is a historical major player of the World War II era and was used as an attack fighter/bomber. This plane is equipped with:

- E-Flite 480 Brushless 1050kv Outrunner Motor
- E-Flite 40A ESC
- 3S 11.1V LiPo 2100 mAh Batteries
- AR6200 Rx
- HiTech HS-65 Servos with Karbonite Gears
- Custom optional rudder installed

Enjoy and thank you for watching. Keep the simulator training strong! : )

PS: Ended up making a lot of modifications to reinforce the landing gear, add a steerable tail wheel, and other upgrades:

Sure it is. My E-flite AT6 can hit 70 with a Power 32 on a 4S. : )

Wow.. I thought a 480 motor would make it over +70mph. I wonder if thats even possible with an electric warbird??

Khatsalano @ 12:00 am

45-50 mph tops I'd …
45-50 mph tops I'd think. I haven't radared this one yet but the Twister Jet is doing about 80, and this is about 5/8ths of that I would say.

Oh wassup Ilya! Good to see you bro. I'm just finding other ways to keep amused with life! : ) I'm doing well, you still playing? OOTA forever.

So you are into …
So you are into model planes now, huh?

Nice videos, i like it!

What's going on man? How is RL? You are still my fav. GM! :)

Long live OOTA!

Haha, talk with you on RCU. : )

I saw your other …
I saw your other video… I never crash! What is your heli skill level? What helis/moves can you do? How much G3.5 stick time do you have? Plane/heli? How hard is it to fly a plane in RL compared to helis in RL compared to helis and planes in RFG3.5?

Khatsalano @ 12:00 am

And yea, the other …
And yea, the other one was crashed because I used to use an AR6100 Rx … that has < 500ft range and it cut out on me… stupid noobie mistake. It's not pilot error, but engineering error and it's still my fault haha. ; )

Khatsalano @ 12:00 am

Much more difficult …
Much more difficult to control than the Super Cub. It also will break easily, it's not meant to crash at all. I actually completely rebuilt that plane and it has its own lighting system now. You can find that in my other videos.

Whistler1971 @ 12:00 am

Hey Khat, how does …
Hey Khat, how does this plane compare to the other one that you crashed?

Whistler1971 @ 12:00 am

I have servos …
I have servos kicking around, how many do I need? ESC, I also have, can it be a 35A Align? Rx, I have a few of those kicking around as well! I have WAY too many parts! i do know how to solder, why do you ask? Have you not seen pictures of my pride and joy (battery charger briefcase) on CX2 thread? If not, please do look back a page or two in there, it is AWESOME!

Khatsalano @ 12:00 am

W, got it at the …
W, got it at the LHS. But you can get it from Horizon directly too. You need the kit plus servos, ESC, and Rx. You already have Tx and batteries and you know how to solder electrics by now. : )

Whistler1971 @ 12:00 am

Khat, where did you …
Khat, where did you get it from? So, the kit comes with the motor, I have plenty of servos kicking around and I have 2500 mAh FP Evolite batteries as well as some spare Rx, so $79 is all I need to spend? This is MUCH cheaper than helis! Where did you get it?

Khatsalano @ 12:00 am

Too much power on …
Too much power on an airplane with this type of wing will actually just cause it to climb, and then you have to compensate with down elevator, which causes drag. So there is a top speed to it due to its design.

Khatsalano @ 12:00 am

Nice to hear on …
Nice to hear on your heli progress, W. The kit alone is quite cheap considering how much detail is in the model. I think it was $79.99 and comes with a stock brushed 400 motor. I don't think you would want to put a more powerful motor on it. : )

Whistler1971 @ 12:00 am

Good video, cool …
Good video, cool plane. Usual question is: How much was the kit without the electronics, battery and Rx, as I already have those with my T-Rex 450 and could swap them around… Can you run a 3200 KV motor? Thanks. Comment on the video, ! liked tha 2nd video a little better, maybe try to adjust the apreture of the camera manually to make the plane more visible… Kudos to GF and crew. I see that she "approves" of your addiction! BTW, did my first loop with my T-Rex 450XL today, 5 loops actually!
