Lovely aircraft great landing

Do they still hold …
Do they still hold the Expo in Ankeny, or somewhere else? Last 3 or 4 years it was in Ida Grove, I went every year. First two years they flew the B-29 in the show, I saw them lose TWO of them to crashes. One year, they blamed loss on radio interference triggering failsafe, causing plane to lose power & nose-dive into field behind war scenery.
But it is NOT the LARGEST R/C airplane. In Mankato, MN., there was an R/C power glider w/single engine & 39 foot wingspan. It flew at least twice.

There weren't any …
There weren't any machine guns on the side of the Superfort. This model has 2 turrets on top and bottom plus tail gunner, just like the real thing.

zdierkes @ 12:00 am

awesome
awesome

b101aa2 @ 12:00 am

Which note, at the …
Which note, at the expo, having 20-50 1:5 scale WWII aircraft in the air at once was normal, especially for the re-enactment. Having numerous DF's and other large scale aircraft as well.

b101aa2 @ 12:00 am

But at the end of …
But at the end of the battle scene, they would fly the B-29, which dropped a simulated bomb and then the pyro's would go off. Let's just say 100,000 people gasping in awe, as they were re-enacting the Anola Gay drop on Hiroshima. It was a HUGE pyro yearly. Byron's staff scratch built the 30" ft span B-29 just for that. City of Ankeny ruined the exoi via beuaracry. otherwise, average attendance was above 200,000 people for the week, annually.

b101aa2 @ 12:00 am

Originally, it had …
Originally, it had 4 Quadra 100 cc motors. As for knowing so much about it, The expo used to be in Ida Grove, Iowa at Byron's property there. I used to go as a kid every year. That was long ago. Then the expo moved to Ankeny, Iowa which is where I live and used to be a volunteer at the show. It was by great margins, targest in the world. I also flew an F6F Hellcat in the show WWII show, which was a battle scene remake.

zdierkes @ 12:00 am

aaahhh, I was …
aaahhh, I was wondering why it took two to fly it. By far the biggest RC plane I have ever seen! WTF? Sounds like 4 gas powered weed eaters for engines!! BTW, b101aa2, how do you know so much about this plane??

koolme70 @ 12:00 am

fabster1001 @ 12:00 am

would of been …
would of been badass if there would of been little machine guns on side

jcreature @ 12:00 am
