Single Aileron Conversion for my Junkyard Dog RC Airplane.

Will One Aileron work? How well? Here in Mr. Herbert's Science class, we find out.
Using my "Junkyard Dog" airplane (built from spare parts) as you saw in my other video, I always wanted to try 1 aileron and see how it worked. Here you can see too. Thanks for watching.

Good idea. There …
Good idea. There are plenty of neat planes to learn on, like the slo stik planes.

Paint….?? Ha ha. It's a Junkyard Dog! I don't want to make it too pretty! Thanks.

wow i really want …
wow i really want to build my own rc plane from sratch that was cool but i think you should paint it white all over with green stripe bits

wilz P.S. im going to subscribe

Absolutely, …
Absolutely, otherwise the servo may stall.

Should i cut back …
Should i cut back the space where the aileron is in that area to free it up? what do you suggest? thanks

Hey doc, i have a …
Hey doc, i have a question

I was flying my aerobird swift today with no problems although upon inspection after landing it(without crashing), my right aileron would not raise up, it kept catching on the inside tip of the main wing where the aileron is cut out. It is interesting because it was flying fine and I did not notice it until after I landed, the battery was very low although the other aileron was demonstrating full range of motion.

NightFlyyer @ 12:00 am

Well you have …
Well you have already probably flown it by now. I run a whole battery through it at 1/2 throttle, usually before I fly. Outrunners and Brushless need no break in. Forget the water!

NightFlyyer @ 12:00 am

Thanks. Well, I …
Thanks. Well, I didn't think it was flying that bad as it is flying fine for this experiment. It is just a junkyard dog you know. Besides the tape holds it all together and it has plenty of power to overcome the small amount of drag. Good point though.

Dave, I am myself …
Dave, I am myself an aircraft designer and a big fan of rc airplanes. One sugestion, you might want to get rid of all the celatape because celatape is very very smooth and does not allow the air to go over the wing. The flow is laminar over the wing- which means very little drag andif the is no grip of the air on the wing it will have very bad turns and the lift will be radically reduced.

wakekid2001 @ 12:00 am

Hi Doc! I just …
Hi Doc! I just bought the aerobird swift and I was wondering what you recommend I do before I maiden her pertaining to how to break in the motor and any thing concerning the ailerons or anything. I have heard that some people stick the motor in a glass of water to help the motor seed or something like that. Any tips? thanks!

NightFlyyer @ 12:00 am

Trikes don't have …
Trikes don't have as bad of ground handling as tail draggers. Just be careful not to stall.

puddud22 @ 12:00 am

Thanks for replying …
Thanks for replying. No this is a tail dragger. My previous experience was a trike, and I know that didn't work.

Landing gears and …
Landing gears and tall grass is a tough. Are you talking about making it a Tricycle landing gear? I like no gear for grass, personally. They never flip over on landing.

puddud22 @ 12:00 am

Dave,

I have an …
Dave,

I have an Edge 540T on order and am looking to try and land it in a short grass field. It has a hard resin prop.

Should I install the front gear or do you recommend leaving them off?

Thanks,
Jeff

NightFlyyer @ 12:00 am

Thanks… Well, you …
Thanks… Well, you need a 4 channel radio to make it work first off.

wakekid2001 @ 12:00 am

Hi doc, do you have …
Hi doc, do you have any tips for how to use ailerons on a 3 channel plane a somewhat new flyer? thanks

NightFlyyer @ 12:00 am

Like the Aerobird? …
Like the Aerobird? They fly great, but aileroned planes give the best maneuverability.

wakekid2001 @ 12:00 am

Hey Dr., I was …
Hey Dr., I was wondering what your opinion is on the planes that have the front of the plane, the boom/stick in the middle and the tail on the back. I currently have one 2 channel model that only has throttle and left and right, I have been flying for about a month and want more maneuverability.

wakekid2001 @ 12:00 am

I' am thinking of …
I' am thinking of moving up to the hobby zone aerobird swift or extreme. What is your opinion on the planes? Also, I have yet to fly a plane with ailerons so it would be my first plane with ailerons, rudders and elevators. thanks

teamlawless17 @ 12:00 am

lol !!
lol !!

NightFlyyer @ 12:00 am

In this case, size …
In this case, size was not a big deal, plus, I like the gun…It never rolls off the table. LOL!

teamlawless17 @ 12:00 am

i dont know if it …
i dont know if it would make a difference but does it change anything when you use a smaller soder gun rather than a big one

i know the heat temps change.

jwalker590 @ 12:00 am

how do you know …
how do you know where to hook everything up to the remote can you please tell me
